Why are you paying for Antivirus?
There's many of you out there paying for antivirus from companies such as Symantec, McAfee, F-Secure, and others.
But do you really need to?
Well, Gimme Free Stuff dug into things a bit to check out what your options are. What we came up with was rather interesting. Most people think that you need to pay for Antivirus, but that's just not the case. We've dug up a few good free options out there, one from Grisoft and another free option from Antivir , which is another free option. Both of these are completely free, and don't require subscriptions or any fee.
There are reviews out there that all point you to other software packages, which require you to pay, but don't heed them, you don't need to. The deal is that the free packages will do the job that you need, while the pay ones might have a bit snazzier interface, or do better with specific threats, the free options will give you the protection you need.
We here at Gimme Free Stuff use AVG from Grisoft, due to its simplicity and ease of use. I would recommend either of the options above, and for god's sake: Don't pay for AV!
